DELAWARE, Ohio - The Capital University women's tennis team traveled to Delaware on Monday Mar. 23 to take on Ohio Wesleyan for their first match since returning from the Sunshine State. The Comets would battle, but ultimately fell by a score of 6-1. With today's results, Capital now stands at 5-9, while Ohio Wesleyan moves to 8-3.
DOUBLES
Scarlett Stephens and
Stephanie Makris led the Comets to a hot start, taking a 6-1 win in the No. 1 doubles spot.
The duos of
Annika Hansen /
Jenny Rollins and
Ella McGlynn /
Ashlyn Edwards would both fall in their doubles matches by a score of 6-2, giving the Battling Bishop the doubles point.
SINGLES
Leading off the singles portion in the No. 1 spot was
Annika Hansen, who fought to the end but would drop a heartbreaker in three sets, the scores sitting at 4-6, 6-1, 5-10.
In the two spot would be
Stephanie Makris, who fell 0-6, 1-6.
Scarlett Stephens continued her strong play with her match-up in the three spot, earning a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
Jenny Rollins followed in the No. 4 spot, coming up just short with scores of 4-6 and 1-6.
Battling in the five spot was
Ella McGlynn, who was defeated 4-6, 3-6.
Addison Kokensparger rounded out the Capital lineup, dropping her match 1-6, 0-6.
UP NEXT
The Comets will be back in action on Wednesday, Apr. 8 to take on Ohio Northern University. The match will take place at the Whetstone Park of Roses and will begin at 3:30 PM.
