GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team traveled to No. 22 ranked Denison on Sunday for a morning match where they were defeated by a final score of 7-0.
Capital is now 6-11 overall, while Denison moves to 15-4.
DOUBLES
Capital fell in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles fairly soundly, but the No. 1 doubles team gave the Big Red everything they could handle, forcing the match into a seventh point.
At first doubles,
Scarlett Stephens and
Stephanie Makris battled well but were upended in the end by Peyton Oda and Maia Nowicki, 7-5.
In the second doubles spot,
Annika Hansen and
Jenny Rollins lost 6-1 to Dash Chistyakova and Caitlin Van Winkle.
In the third spot, the pairing of
Alexa Smith and
Addison Kokensparger fell to Anna Leach and Rafaelle Ramos, 6-0.
SINGLES
In singles play, the Big Red again took all the available points to secure the sweep.
At first singles, Stephens was defeated by Oda 6-2, 6-0.
In the second spot, Hansen fell to Chistyakova 6-1, 6-4.
At third singles, Makris was upended by Nowicki 6-1, 6-3.
In the fourth singles position,
Ella McGlynn was defeated by Maddie Larsen 6-0, 6-0.
At fifth singles, Smith was downed by Leach 6-0, 6-0.
In the sixth position, Kokensparger was dropped in consecutive 6-0 sets to Sophia Gallagher.

Capital will conclude their run of three matches in three days as they head back to the Cleveland area tomorrow to play against Oberlin at 5 p.m.
