COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team played at home for the first time this spring by hosting the No. 27 ranked Ohio Northern Polar Bears for the OAC opener for both teams. The visitors eventually took the match via a 7-0 scoreline.
Capital is now 5-10 overall and 0-1 in the conference, while ONU is 13-3 overall and 1-0 in the OAC.
DOUBLES
The Polar Bears took care of business in the doubles action, winning all three match-ups.
At the first spot,
Scarlett Stephens and
Stephanie Makris paired up and were defeated by Abby Cruser and Jamie Hurst, 6-3.
In the second doubles spot,
Annika Hansen and
Jenny Rollins fell 6-1 in their match against Caroline Robinson and Jenna Bell.
At third doubles,
Ella McGlynn and
Ashlyn Edwards lost 6-1 to the pairing of Amy Grace Beebe and Lauren Okrainec.
SINGLES
The Comets were unfortunately handled fairly easily across the board in singles play, but
Annika Hansen,
Stephanie Makris and
Ella McGlynn each took multiple sets off their opponents, making life difficult for the Polar Bears at times.
At the top singles spot, Stephens was defeated in consecutive 6-0 sets by ONU's Bell.
In second singles, Hansen fell to Okrainec, 6-3, 6-1.
At third singles, Makris lost to Cruser, 6-2, 6-0.
In the fourth spot, Rollins lost her match-up to Hurst, 6-0, 6-1.
In fifth singles, McGlynn lost to Audrey Austin via consecutive 6-1 scores.
In the sixth singles position, Edwards fell in back-to-back 6-0 sets to Leah Schleibaum.

Capital will head out on the road this coming Saturday as they will travel to Baldwin Wallace for a 1 p.m. match.
