OBERLIN, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team played their third match in as many days on the road at Oberlin College on Monday evening. There, the Comets fell 6-1 to the Yeowomen.
Capital is now 6-12 overall, while Oberlin is 9-5 on the year.
DOUBLES
The Comets gave Oberlin everything they could handle at No. 1 doubles, but ultimately the hosts won all three match-ups.
Scarlett Stephens and
Stephanie Makris were upended by Freya Rahm and Hannah Soong in a thrilling 7-6 match at the first doubles position.
Annika Hansen and
Jenny Rollins paired at No. 2 and were defeated by Eva Lopez and Scarlett Kingston, 6-2.
In the third position, the duo of
Ella McGlynn and
Addison Kokensparger were defeated by Olivia Wollner and Stella Kollmansberger, 6-0.
SINGLES
Capital garnered their only point in the match at No. 1 singles thanks to a win by
Scarlett Stephens. Elsewhere, Capital was narrowly edged in two tiebreaking sets at No. 2 and No. 3 positions.
In first singles, Stephens defeated Kollmansberger with 6-2 and 6-3 set scores.
At the second singles position,
Annika Hansen fell in a three-set match to Rachel Allen 6-4, 1-6, 9-11.
In No. 3 singles, Makris was also defeated in three sets as she fell to Kingston, 3-6, 6-2, 4-10.
At No. 4 singles, McGlynn was defeated by Lopez 6-4, 6-0.
At the fifth spot, Rollins was defeated by Rahm 6-3, 6-1.
In the sixth position,
Alexa Smith was defeated by Olivia Guzman in consecutive 6-0 sets.

Capital will pause for a little over a week as their next match will be on Wednesday, April 22nd as they host Otterbein in the Battle for the Oar. The match will be played at Wolfe Park at 3:30 p.m.
