Samaree Perkins earned her sixth career D3hoops.com Team of the Week award. For Perkins, she now has been included on the weekly award three times this season, and extends her program lead for most selections in a career.
Samaree and the Comets went 1-1 this past week, taking down Muskingum on Wednesday, Feb. 4 by a score of 72-56 before falling 49-63 to #8 Baldwin Wallace on the road Saturday afternoon.
Perkins recorded a new career high in the win over Muskingum, finishing the contest with 23 rebounds. She would also lead the team in scoring, using three baskets from beyond the arc to finish with 18 points. Also making an impact on the defensive end, she recorded two blocks and a steal. Her 20 blocks on the season a new team high.
It was a historic day for the senior against Baldwin Wallace, surpassing two career milestones. After tallying 21 points and 15 rebounds, she became just the sixth player in Capital women's basketball program history to reach the 1,500 point mark, along with being just the third to grab over 1,000 carer rebounds. To close out the memorable day, she would have three steals to bring her total to 24 on the season.
The Capital women's basketball team will be back in action this weekend on Saturday, Feb. 14 for a rivarly match-up with Otterbein. The game will begin at 5 pm.
