WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Capital University's
Samaree Perkins has been named the OAC Player of the Week in women's basketball for the third time this season. The award is also the seventh in her distinguished career for the Comets.
With her latest selection, Perkins' honor brings the Capital Athletics season total up to 18 in the 2025-26 year.
This week, Perkins was instrumental in a 2-0 week for the Comets as the team secured two come-from-behind wins on the road at Wilmington and at home vs. Ohio Northern. At Wilmington, the Comets flipped a 42-38 deficit at the end of the third quarter into a 60-51 victory. Against Ohio Northern, Capital turned a 40-39 deficit at the end of the third quarter into a 59-49 win.
In the road game at Wilmington, Perkins finished with 28 points, 17 rebounds and one assist. In the game, she was a major catalyst for the fourth quarter turnaround as she accounted for 10 points, six rebounds and one assist in the fourth quarter alone to swing the result. For the game, she converted 40% of her shots and was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line.
In the home game vs. Ohio Northern, Perkins ended with a game-high 16 points to go with seven rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. She again showed up clutch in the fourth quarter, scoring 11 of her 16 points in the final 10 minutes of action. In the game, she scored 62.5% of her shots and added five more free throws to her total.
In her career, Perkins currently sits at 1,472 points and 966 rebounds. She will look to add to those totals as the Comets next take on Muskingum at home this coming Wednesday, February 4th. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
