Samaree Perkins' Historic Week Earns Her OAC Athlete of the Week Honors

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - After a week full of milestones, Samaree Perkins has earned her fourth Ohio Athletic Conference Athlete of Week honor of the season.  The senior has now earned the award eight times in her career.

With this selection, the Capital Athletic Department now has won the award 19 times this academic year.

In the first game of the week, Perkins led the Comets to a convincing 72-56 win over Muskingum.  Along with 18 points, she added a career-high 23 rebounds, with eight of them coming on the offensive end.  The Pittsburgh native also made her presence felt on defense, with two blocks and a steal.

Game two of the week would be a historic one for Perkins, as her 21 points and 15 rebounds against #8 Baldwin Wallace put her in rare air for Capital women's basketball history.  She became just the sixth player in program history to surpass 1,500 career points, as well as just the third player to break the 1,000 career rebound mark.  With another 20 point performance, she now reached that mark in 12 games this season.  Yet again, Perkins showed up on defense, recording three steals in the game.

Samaree and the Comets will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 14 for a rivalry match-up with Otterbein.  The game is set to tip-off at 5 pm.
