Payton Childers earning Offensive Player of the Week and senior
Lauren Hinshaw earning Defensive Player of the Week in the soccer edition.
The Comets completed their week with two strong wins, scoring eight goals offensively across both games. In the first match of the week against Ohio Wesleyan on Tuesday, the Comets scored three goals to earn a 3-0 victory. They followed that up by dominating Saturday's conference opener against Baldwin Wallace, collecting five goals in a 5-1 victory.
Across the two games, Offensive Player of the Week
Payton Childers was on fire, as the forward scored two goals against BW and added one assist against OWU and another against BW. She totaled five shots across the two games, with three on goal against BW. Childers finished the week with five total points for the Comets across 102 minutes of play. On the season, Childers has scored five goals for Capital while also recording three assists.
As for Defensive Player of the Week,
Lauren Hinshaw helped keep the Comets afloat, allowing just one goal across the two games. Against OWU on Tuesday, Hinshaw collected three saves on 15 shots. On Saturday, she recorded a career-high seven saves against 15 shots from the Yellow Jackets. Hinshaw now sits at a .791 save percentage.
Hinshaw and the Comets improved their record to 8-2-0 on the season and will return to action this Wednesday as they gear up to host the Heidelberg Student Princes inside Bernlohr Stadium at 7 p.m.
