COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Capital University Women's soccer team dominated the Student Princes from Heidelberg, winning 8-1. The win brings the Comets to 9-2 overall, and 2-0 in OAC play. The loss brings Heidelberg to 3-8 overall and 0-2 in OAC play. The 8-1 scoreline marked the team's largest win since the 2023 season when they beat Muskingum 10-0.
Heidelberg attacked early, and took the lead at the eighth minute mark with a goal by Brianna Braatz to take a 1-0 before Capital would answer back at the 22nd minute mark on a goal from
Brinley Barnett off of an assist from
Ava Spirk. Capital would score two more goals before going into half, One from
Juli Sprague from an assist by
Payton Childers, and
Brooklyn Herbert from an assist by
Sofia Walton.
In the Second Half, the Comets took complete control of the game, winning the half 5-0 to win the game with an overall score of 8-1. Barnett would score again to open up the half for the Comets, before Childers off of an assist by
Ava Spirk, Sprague would also score another goal and to cap it off, Herbert would score two more goals four minutes apart from each other to secure a hat trick and cap off a great night for the Comets.
Capital shot the ball twenty seven times compared to Heidelberg's five, led by Herbert with six shots. Childers and Spirk each had two assists for the Comets and
Lauren Hinshaw added a save.

The Comets continue OAC action on Saturday, Oct 10th, when they host the Purple Raiders from Mount Union. The game is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM.
