WESTERVILLE, Ohio – On Wednesday morning, the Ohio Athletic Conference announced the selections of three Capital University women's basketball players as All-Conference –
Bri O'Connor,
Samaree Perkins, and
Laney Murphy.
Highlighting the honors was
Bri O'Connor who was named Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and All-OAC First Team. Additionally,
Samaree Perkins was selected as All-OAC First Team, while
Laney Murphy picked up Honorable Mention honors.
Selected as Player of the Year, O'Connor becomes Capital's seventh unique student-athlete to earn the award and the first since Kristen Richardson in 2010. She is also Capital's first recipient of the Defensive Player of the Year. She is now a three-time First Team recipient, having earned the distinction each of her three years in Purple and White.
Perkins is also a three-time All-OAC recipient – as an honorable mention pick in 2023 and two-time First Team selection in 2024 and 2025. Like her counterparts, Murphy also has earned three All-OAC accolades in her career, receiving Honorable Mention in 2022, 2024 and now 2025.
On the court in 2025, O'Connor finished the regular season with 21.1 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game, 3.2 assists per game, 3.5 steals per game and 0.4 blocks per game. She also recorded a 42.6% field goal percentage, a 32.4% three-point percentage, and 87.6% free throw percentage. Most notably, O'Connor poured in 20.8 points per game in conference games alone. She led the OAC in scoring, assists, and steals.
Perkins finished the season with 16.0 points per game, 10.5 rebounds per game, 1.7 assists per game, 1.3 steals per game, and 0.8 blocks per game. Perkins finished the year with a 44.3% field goal percentage on the court. She finished the regular season with 12 double-doubles and averaged 17.1 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game against OAC competition only. She topped the OAC charts in rebounding.
Murphy was third on the team with 11.2 points per game, while also adding 3.7 rebounds per game, 1.1 assists per game, 0.8 steals per game and 0.3 blocks per game. In conference play alone, Murphy scored 10.8 points per game with 3.8 rebounds per game.
As a team, Capital put together a regular season record of 19-6 and a 13-5 mark in OAC play, finishing as the four-seed for the OAC Tournament. Just last night, Capital defeated Marietta in the first round of the tournament and is now slated to play at top-seeded Baldwin Wallace on Thursday at 7 p.m.
