GREENWOOD, Ind. – On Tuesday afternoon, three Capital University volleyball players were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team for their combined work in the classroom and on the court this season.
Selected this year were senior
Larissa Smith, junior
Samaree Perkins and sophomore
Bryn Whitmer. Smith is a second time recipient of All-District honors having also won the award in 2022. Perkins is also a second time winner of the award, but her first award was during the 2023-24 women's basketball season. This is her first for volleyball. Whitmer is a first-time recipient in her first year of eligibility.
On the court this season, Smith finished with 183 kills, 63 blocks and 22 digs. Perkins recorded 165 kills, 54 blocks, 57 digs, and 17 aces. Whitmer ended the year with 600 assists, 179 digs, 36 aces and 23 kills.
To be eligible for this award, student-athletes must be at least sophomore academic and athletic standing, must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA (not-rounded), and meet other high athletic standards.
Capital volleyball finished the 2024 season with an overall record of 9-17, with highlight wins coming over Denison and Baldwin Wallace during the year.
