WESTERVILLE, Ohio – On Thursday, Capital University volleyball senior
Abby Brunner was selected to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference Second Team after another quality season on the court for the libero.
This is Brunner's second career postseason accolade after she was also named All-OAC Honorable Mention as a freshman, thus bookending her career with All-Conference recognition. She is the first two-time All-OAC recipient in program history since Katie Weilbacher earned honorable mention honors in back-to-back seasons from 2013 to 2014. Additionally, she is the first second team honoree for Capital since Kelly Leonard in 2014.
Brunner completed her senior campaign with 515 digs across 25 matches and 88 sets played. That 515 digs matched her own career-high for digs in a season, set during her junior year. The total broke down to 5.85 digs per set, a number that led the conference in that category. In addition to her digs, Brunner finished the year with 76 assists, 23 service aces and 17 kills.
Throughout her career, Brunner finished with 102 matches played, 1,912 digs, 300 assists, 142 service aces, and 39 kills as the team's four-year libero. Her 1,912 digs will be a number that lives on in Capital history as the fourth most career digs in program history.
