NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team traveled to Muskingum University on Wednesday evening where they were upended by a final score of 3-0 after sets of 25-13, 28-26, and 25-11. The Comets made a strong effort in set two leading 26-25 late, but a stretch of three points swung the set to the Muskies.
On the year, Capital is now 3-21 overall and 1-6 in the OAC, while Muskingum improved to 17-9 overall and 5-2 in the OAC.
Offensively, the Comets were led in the match by
Chloe Preocanin who landed seven kills.
Samaree Perkins added six kills, followed by five from
Olivia Milton and four each from
Ryann Bunyak and
Abby Reed.
Carlee Thompson drove the offense with 18 assists, while
Abby Brunner chipped in four helpers and Milton set up three assists.
Shy Black accounted for both of the Comets' service aces in the match.
At the net,
Samaree Perkins led the way in blocking with one solo swat and she combined with
Abby Reed for another block.
In the backrow,
Abby Brunner was kept busy with a game-high 26 digs. She was joined in double figure digs by Thompson with 14 and Black with 12.
Kenadee Winters finished with nine as well.

Capital will conclude their season on Saturday, November 1st with a 1 p.m. match against Mount Union. With the Comets playing their final home match of the season, the team will honor their seven seniors prior to the start of the match.
