WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced
Abby Brunner as the conference's Defensive Player of the Week in volleyball for the second time this season and third time in her career.
Brunner averaged 7.12 digs per set across eight sets in the team's final two matches of the season, totaling 57 digs over the two matches. She also totaled 13 assists, four service aces and two kills on the week.
In a tight 3-2 loss to Muskingum, Brunner recorded two career-highs in digs with 39 and assists with nine. She also added a service ace.
In the team's final game of the year on the road at Mount Union, Brunner finished with 18 digs, two kills, four assists and three service aces.
This season, Brunner ended with 515 digs – the first time in her three years in which she has eclipsed 500 digs in a season. She stands at 1,397 digs in her career.
Brunner's award now makes it nine Athletes of the Week for the athletic department this year.
