WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Capital University cross country program traveled to Wilmington College's JennaStrong Classic on Friday evening where the women raced a 5K race and the men ran on an 8K course.
Of 17 teams who scored as a team, the women's team placed 12th overall. There were eight other schools represented without team scoring as well. On the men's side, Capital placed 10th of 22 teams who scored. Two additional schools also ran athletes for the men.
WOMEN
Capital was once again paced by
Grace Osborn who was the Comets' top finisher. She crossed the finish line 16th overall in the field of 200 runners. Her time of 19:31.1 was good enough to move her up to eighth all-time in program history in the 5K race.
Olivia Ellis was next to finish for Cap, placing 82nd with a time of 21:31.3. The time was a new PR in the event by three seconds.
Not far behind Ellis was
Brenna Todd who crossed the line in 21:52.5, good for 91st overall. The time was Todd's first career 5K.
Catherine Schaub and
Elizabeth Mak finished neck-and-neck in 103rd and 104th respectively with times of 22:01.0 and 22:03.6. Mak's time marked a personal best by 15 seconds.
Grace Wolfe was the next placer, finishing 147th in 23:51.7, while
Alex Wilkinson rounded out the performances with a time of 24:39.7. Both Wolfe and Wilkinson raced in their first career 5Ks in the meet.
MEN
Mikey Arnone led the Comet men, finishing just a second ahead of teammate
Joseph Countryman. Arnone placed 35th in 26:38.8, while Countryman was 36th in 26:39.9. These times were good to move the duo up on the program top-20 list in the 8K race. Arnone is now 12th all-time and Countryman is 13th.
Kolin Brake was the next finisher for Cap, placing 58th in 27:11.0.
Zach Glotzbecker finished his race in 28:07.4, good for 91st out of 248 runners.
Aaron McNutt was not far behind Glotzbecker, placing 98th in 28:15.6.
Gunnar Yates placed 113th in 28:36.9 - a new personal best.
Next for Cap was
Aiden Mahony who raced in 29:08.1, placing 128th. His time was a first career sub-30 minute performance.
Andrew Rouser finished 165th in 30:29.2 (a new PR), while
Aiden Smith rounded out the Comet performances with a time of 32:12.9, placing 199th. Smith smashed his prior PR by more than three minutes.
UP NEXT
Capital will turn their sights toward the OAC Championships for their next competition as they will run in Findlay, Ohio on Saturday, November 2nd. This year's championships will be hosted by Heidelberg University.
