Women's Tennis Ends Season with Loss at Ohio Northern

LIMA, Ohio – Capital Women's Tennis was defeated by Ohio Northern University by a 9-0 count on Sunday afternoon at the Westwood Tennis and Fitness Center in its season finale. Capital finishes the 2016-17 season with an overall record of 2-12 and a conference mark of 0-8.

Ohio Northern (20-4, 7-1 OAC) cleared doubles play with three wins and surrendered just one point. Senior Monique Hanayik and MacKenzie Archibald were downed by Brittany Toney and Christina Corbean, 8-1 before the second and third flights went to the Polar Bears in shutout fashion.

Capital was unable to get things rolling in singles play, dropping all six matches by wide margins. Megan Williams was defeated by Ola Latala (6-1, 6-1) in the top flight, while Hanayik and Samm Smith also lost in straight sets to their respective opponents.

Archibald, Katie Woods and Desiree Molina all played matches in a race to eight, each of which Ohio Northern won by six or more points.

Capital's season comes to a close after missing the cut for the 2017 OAC Tournament.
