COLUMBUS – The Capital University women's lacrosse team remained unbeaten in its inaugural varsity season Sunday with a 14-4 victory over Siena Heights (Mich.) in a non-conference affair at Bernlohr Stadium.

The Crusaders (3-0 overall) controlled possession for a majority of the contest, outshooting Siena Heights 33-18 and holding a 14-6 advantage on draw controls.

Freshman Shannon Walton (Fairview Park, Ohio) led Capital with four goals, one assist, seven ground balls, eight draw controls and four caused turnovers. Freshmen Korri Titus (Pickerington, Ohio), Miranda Stellini (Dublin, Ohio) and Marlee McCloud (Milford, Ohio) registered two goals and one assist apiece.

Freshman goalie Maddie Wilson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) anchored the defense to pick up her third win of the season. She recorded 14 saves along with two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Stellini posted the game's first goal just five minutes into it, and Titus gave Capital a 2-0 advantage with 19:54 left in the half on a free position shot.

After the Saints (2-3) tied the game midway through the period, the Crusaders closed the half with three goals in a three-minute span.

Freshman Sarah Jones (Bexley, Ohio) found the back of the net on a free position shot at the 5:17 mark. Titus scored off a pass from McCloud 2:49 to play, and Walton tallied 13 seconds later unassisted to give Capital a 5-2 advantage.

Walton upped the Crusaders' lead to six with three goals in the first seven minutes of the second half, with her second in that span coming on an assist from freshman Alexis Juergensen (Canton, Ohio). She assisted on Capital's fourth goal of the frame, recorded by Stellini with 19:35 on the clock.

Freshman Emma Schaefer (Hilliard, Ohio) made it 10-2 with a free position shot at the 18:44 mark. After a Siena Heights goal with 16:21 to play, McCloud took a great pass from Titus 15 seconds later and finished in front of the net to give the Crusaders an 11-3 lead.

McCloud, sophomore Kim Hoerauf (Worthington, Ohio) and Jones each added goals in the final 12:40 of the contest to account for the final margin.

Capital concludes its four-game home stand Wednesday against Mount St. Joseph. Face off is slated for 4 p.m. at Bernlohr Stadium.
