COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team hosted Senior Day at Bernlohr Stadium as Otterbein University visited the Comets for the annual rivalry match-up. Unfortunately for the Comets, this year's game went the way of the Cardinals, 20-1.
Capital is 4-6 overall and 0-2 in the OAC, while Otterbein is now 8-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
Otterbein jumped all over the scoreboard early and often as Capital's best offensive chance in the game came on their only goal late in the third quarter as
Heather Stoner fired home a goal off an assist by
Leah Leno.
THE NUMBERS
Brooke Burchfield and
Heather Stoner led the team with three ground balls each, joined by
Holly Stoner and
Sienna Pinson with two each.
The Comets caused three turnovers in the game, with two CTs going to
Grace Wolfe and one to
Kadyn Hyer.
Hyer led the team in draw controls with four, while
Heather Stoner had three.
Brooke Burchfield made 11 saves in the cage for Capital. Combined with 118 saves at her previous school, Burchfield recorded her 84th save of the Capital portion of her career today, bringing her past the 200-save milestone in her career.
SENIOR DAY
The Comets celebrated their seven seniors prior to the start of the game, honoring the careers of
Ava Vendetti,
Leah Leno,
Holly Stoner,
Heather Stoner,
Faith Hutchison,
Eleanor Walsh and
Grace Wolfe.
