MASON, Ohio - The Capital University women's tennis team was back in action on Friday, May 1 for an OAC Tournament Semifinal match-up against Otterbein University. In a very competitive contest, the Comets would fall 4-3 in a heartbreaker. With the loss, Capital ends their season with a 7-14 overall record, with a 2-2 record in Ohio Athletic Conference play.
DOUBLES
In the no. 1 spot was
Stephanie Makris and
Scarlett Stephens, who would fall 3-6 in their match-up.
The no. 3 doubles match was also taken by Otterbein, as
Ella McGlynn and
Addison Kokensparger fell 4-6.
With the event being clinch format, the no. 2 match would not be completed, and
Annika Hansen and
Jenny Rollins would stop play up 6-5.
SINGLES
Scarlett Stephens was dominate in the no. 1 spot, taking the 6-2, 6-0 victory.
Hansen battled hard in the no. 2 position, but would drop a close 4-6, 5-7 affair.
Filling the no. 3 position would be the freshman Makris, who took a big 6-3, 6-2 win.
McGlynn would end her career with a win, as the senior defeated her opponent 6-4, 6-2.
Unfortunately for the Comets, both Rollins and
Ashlyn Edwards would drop their matches in the five and six spots, clinching the 4-3 victory for the Cardinals.
