ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Capital University women's tennis team was back in action on Saturday, Apr. 25 for the final match of their regular season. Taking on the University of Mount Union, the Comets would earn a hard fought 4-3 victory. With the win, Capital moves to 7-13 overall and 2-2 in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play.
DOUBLES
Getting things started for Capital in the doubles portion of the match was
Stephanie Makris and
Scarlett Stephens, who cruised to a 6-0 victory.
The Comets would stumble in the no. 2 spot, with
Annika Hansen and
Jenny Rollins dropping their match-up 4-6.
Coming up clutch for Capital would be
Ella McGlynn and
Addison Kokensparger, winning the no. 3 spot in a 7-5 thriller to give their team the crucial doubles point.
SINGLES
The first completed match-up of the singles portion would be in the no. 3 spot, seeing Makris cruise to a two set victory, 6-1, 6-1.
Kokensparger would finish next in the no. 5 match-up falling 1-6, 0-6.
The Comets would respond in the no. 1 position, with Stephens pulling away with a victory with scores of 6-1 and 6-3.
Mount Union would go on two win the next two spots, with
Alexa Smith and Rollins both falling in the six and four spots.
The match would come down to
Annika Hansen, who would battle back in three sets to take earn an electric 6-7, 6-1, 6-4 victory in the no. 2 spot to give the Comets the 4-3 match win.

The Comets have earned the three seed in the OAC Tournament. They will take on Otterbein University on Friday, May. 1 for their semifinal match-up.
