Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Baldwin Wallace in Home Contest

Box Score

COLUMBUS, Ohio -The Capital University men's lacrosse team dropped an Ohio Athletic Conference match-up to Baldwin Wallace University, 18-9, on Saturday afternoon at Bernlohr Stadium.  With the loss, the Comets fall to 6-8 overall, and 4-3 in OAC play.

Baldwin Wallace jumped out to a fast start, scoring four goals in the opening quarter while holding Capital without a shot on goal. The Yellow Jackets carried that early momentum into the second frame, but the Comets responded with a strong stretch midway through the quarter. Capital rattled off four consecutive goals, including two from Colton Woods and scores from Aiden Evans and Jess Lipp, to even the contest at 4-4 with just over four minutes remaining in the half.

The visitors regained control before the break with a man-up goal, taking a 5-4 lead into halftime.

The third quarter proved decisive as Baldwin Wallace erupted for seven goals in the period. Despite goals from Braylon Dawson, Woods, and Elliott Rhoton to keep the Comets within striking distance, the Yellow Jackets built a 12-7 advantage heading into the final quarter.

Capital continued to battle in the fourth, highlighted by a goal from Charlie Howenstine early in the frame, but Baldwin Wallace's offense remained consistent, adding six more goals to secure the 18-9 victory.

Woods led the Comets offensively with three goals and one assist, while Lipp and Howenstine each contributed a goal and an assist. Evans, Dawson, Rhoton, and Mason Miller also found the back of the net for Capital.

Defensively, Wyatt Stemler recorded eight saves in goal for the Comets. Capital held a slight edge in faceoffs, winning 15 compared to Baldwin Wallace's 14, but the Yellow Jackets controlled the shot battle 49-29.
