Men’s Lacrosse Falls at Ohio Northern in OAC Semifinals

ADA, Ohio - The Capital University men's lacrosse team saw its season come to a close on Tuesday evening, falling to Ohio Northern University, 17-3, in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament Semifinals at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

Ohio Northern seized control early and never relinquished it, outscoring the Comets 9-1 across the first half to build a commanding advantage. The Polar Bears continued their offensive momentum throughout the second half to secure the semifinal victory.

Capital broke through midway in the first quarter when Jess Lipp finished a feed from Charlie Howenstine to put the Comets on the board. The duo connected again in the third quarter for Capital's second goal of the game.  For Lipp, he finishes his impressive freshman season with 51 goals, which is good enough to place him in eighth in the single-season program record books.  Aiden Evans added the final tally in the fourth quarter, converting on an assist from Lipp.

Lipp led Capital with three points on two goals and an assist, while Howenstine paced the team with two assists. Evans chipped in one goal on three shots.

Defensively, Wyatt Stemler recorded 11 saves in 48:55 of action, with Luc Kadlic adding one save in relief.

Ohio Northern held advantages in shots (58-19), ground balls (44-25), and faceoffs (15-9), controlling the pace throughout the contest. Capital found success in the clearing game, converting 21 of 25 attempts.

With the loss, the Comets conclude their 2026 campaign, finishing the season with an overall record of 8-9, and a 5-3 record in OAC play.
