Comets Earn Five OAC Athlete of the Week Awards

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - With Monday's release of the Ohio Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week, Capital University had five athletes recognized for their performances.  Alyssa Miller and Kyleigh Kirby represented softball, Dawson Lewis and Robby Harrison represented baseball, and finally Wyatt Stemler earned the honors for men's lacrosse.

The five selections bring the Capital athletics department total to 28 this academic calendar year.

Alyssa Miller was dominant in the circle last week for the Comets, appearing in five games during their spring trip to Clearmont.  The sophomore would compile a record of 2-0 throwing 22.1 innings allowing just six runs on 15 hits.  She would tie her career-high strikeout total of eight in her complete game performance against Allegheny (3/1), tallying 20 punchouts on the week.

Earning Hitter of the Week honors for softball was Kyleigh Kirby, going 12-27 for an average of .444 in eight games down in the Sunshine State.  The senior would finish with a very impressive stat line of 14 RBIs, two doubles, one triple, and four home runs.  She would only strike out one time throughout the entirety of the week.

For baseball, Dawson Lewis was named Pitcher of the Week for his performance on the mound during the team's trip to Vero Beach.  Lewis made his first three appearances of the year out of the bullpen last week, totaling 6.0 innings of work where he would allow no runs on just one hit.  The freshman would earn both his first career win and save, also picking up a pair of strikeouts.

Baseball's Hitter of the Week would be Robby Harrison, who would go 12-25 (.480) at the plate.  He would finish with four doubles, two triples, and one home run, also tallying 11 RBIs.  To add to his fantastic week, he would also throw out five runners from behind the plate.

Rounding out the week was men's lacrosse goaltender Wyatt Stemler.  The sophomore would go 1-1 in two games in the cage, recording 17 saves for a percentage of .607 against Centre (3/7), before allowing just one goal in a 13-1 win over Allegheny (3/8).  In the second game Stemler would finish with 10 saves for a percentage of .909.
