WESTERVILLE, Ohio - As announced on Monday morning, five members of the Capital University baseball team earned recognition on the Ohio Athletic Conference All-Conference teams. Sophomore Bryce Kyees highlighted the group with First Team All-OAC accolades, the first such honor of his career. Ty Clifton and Michael Andryszczyk each secured Second Team distinction, while seniors Kielan LaMarr and Robby Harrison capped off their careers with honorable mention selections.
Bryce Kyees has now collected All-OAC recognition twice in his career after being named to the second team as a freshman last season. The sophomore finished with a team-best .373 batting average, ranking fifth across the conference. He tallied 50 hits, including 10 doubles and four home runs. The Dublin, Ohio native consistently found ways to get on base, drawing 35 walks while striking out only 13 times. Through just two collegiate seasons, Kyees sits only two hits away from reaching 100 for his career.
Senior Ty Clifton picked up Second Team All-OAC honors for the second time in his career. Clifton anchored the middle of the Comets' order, pacing the squad with 52 hits and nine home runs. His long ball total ranked sixth in the conference while also tying the single-season program record. Jason Brandt was the only other player in Capital history to hit nine home runs in a season, accomplishing the feat in 1997. Clifton also drove in 45 runs and crossed the plate 25 times himself.
Michael Andryszczyk joined Clifton on the second team, collecting the first all-conference recognition of his career. The junior posted a .336 batting average while compiling 13 doubles, two triples, and three home runs. Andryszczyk remained a dangerous presence on the basepaths, swiping nine bags during the campaign. In the season finale against Otterbein University, the Independence, Ohio native recorded the 100th hit of his collegiate career.
Kielan LaMarr also earned postseason recognition for the first time in his career. The senior registered career highs with 45 hits and a .300 batting average. Among those hits were four doubles and two home runs. LaMarr additionally displayed his quickness on the bases, successfully stealing 10 bags in 11 attempts.
Capital rounded out its all-conference honorees with senior catcher Robby Harrison. Harrison hit .316 during the season while recording 43 base hits. He consistently delivered extra-base production, finishing with nine doubles, four triples, and five home runs in his final campaign. The Louisiana native put together his strongest stretch during the team's spring trip to Vero Beach, earning OAC Hitter of the Week honors as well as a selection to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week. Over that span, Harrison went 12-for-25 at the plate and threw out five runners from behind the plate.
