ORLANDO, Fla. - The Capital University women's tennis team opened their trip down south to Orlando on Sunday, Mar. 1, falling to the University of Mary. Despite multiple competitive matches, the Comets would suffer a 7-0 defeat. With the loss, Capital moves to 5-5 on the season. Meanwhile, UMary sees their record rise to 2-6.
DOUBLES
In the top spot,
Scarlett Stephens and
Stephanie Makris would ultimately drop a very competitive match-up by a score of 7-5. The duos of Hansen/Rollins and Kokensparger/McGlynn would both fall 6-3.
SINGLES
Scarlett Stephens competed in the top spot, dropping a heartbreaker with scores of 6-4, 2-6, and 7-10.
In the second match-up,
Stephanie Makris fell by scores of 5-7 and 0-6.
The third spot was played by
Annika Hansen, defeated by scores of 1-6 and 3-6.
Jenny Rollins lost the fourth spot by scores of 4-6 and 0-6.
In her first singles appearance of the season,
Alexa Smith fell by scores of 0-6, 0-6 in the fifth spot.
Rounding out singles was
Addison Kokensparger, who was defeated in the sixth spot 2-6,3-6.
