WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Capital University saw both their men's and women's basketball teams represented in today's release of the Ohio Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week Awards. With both teams earning hard fought wins on the road at Marietta,
Kendall Spreen and
Se'Ron Calloway-White were both recognized for their stellar play.
The OAC Athlete of the Week Award has now been earned 17 times by a Capital student-athlete.
Kendall Spreen was the leading scorer for the Comets in their 85-79 come-from-behind victory over Marietta. The junior reached a new career high in single game points, finishing with 23. She would convert seven times from beyond the arc, which was also good enough for a new career high. Spreen's total of seven three pointers places her second in the program record books, as Katie Mang knocked down eight in a game in the 1994-95 season. To finish off her fantastic effort, she also added two assists and six rebounds.
The men's offense was firing on all cylinders in their match-up with Marietta, earning a 94-71 victory.
Se'Ron Calloway-White recorded a career high 31 points, going a very efficient 13-18 from the field. Calloway-White is the first since Joey Weingartner, who scored 32 points in November of 2018, to surpass the 30 point mark for the Comets. Rounding out his day, the sophomore would also grab seven rebounds.
Both squads will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 28 to take on Wilmington College. The women will be on the road, while the men will be at home. Both games are slated for 7 pm.
