COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team picked up their second 6-1 win in as many days, this time defeating the College of Wooster in their home opener on Sunday afternoon.
The Comets (2-0) earned the doubles point and saw their only blemish on the score coming in a three-set battle at second singles.
Starting off the match, Capital won first and third doubles to claim the team point in that area.
Annika Hansen and
Stephanie Makris emerged 6-3 winners at the top spot and
Ashlyn Edwards and
Jenny Rollins won 6-2 at the third spot.
Addison Kokensparger and
Ella McGlynn fell 6-0 at the second spot, but the team did enough to earn the team point.
In singles play, the Comets were victorious at No. 1, and Nos. 3-6.
Scarlett Stephens got things started with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1. At the third spot,
Annika Hansen won 6-1, 6-2. In the fourth and fifth spots, both
Ella McGlynn and
Jenny Rollins won via identical 6-2 sets.
Ashlyn Edwards rounded things out at the sixth spot with a 6-2, 6-4 win.
Stephanie Makris won the first set of her match-up but dropped the next two 3-6, 4-6 to fall.
All-in-all, Capital rounded up a 6-1 team win for the second day in a row.

Capital will have another quick turnaround for their next match as they will travel to Franciscan University tomorrow, September 8th for a 5 p.m. start time.
