WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University cross country team ventured to the Otterbein Invitational on Saturday morning where the team got a taste at running on the OAC Championship course for 2025. There, Capital performed well in what was the first collegiate 6K and 8K races for many of the Comet runners.
As a team, the Capital women placed seventh overall out of 13 teams, while also seeing three runners break the top-20 in program history for the 6K. On the men's side, Capital placed fifth of 14 teams and saw two runners break into the program top-20 list for the 8K.
WOMEN
Faith Michel was the leading Comet in the first 6K race of the season for Capital, clocking in a time of 24:09.17, which placed her 27th overall. The time was also good enough to place her 14th all-time in program history in the distance.
Laney Tarr was next for Capital to finish in a time of 24:32.12, which set her 34th overall. The time was also good to set her in the top-20 of program history, settling her 15th best.
Shelby Janes was right on Tarr's heels, crossing the line 35th overall with a time of 24:35.49. Janes also adds her name into the top-20 list, clocking in at the 17th best time in school history.
Catherine Schaub was next for Capital, placing 77th in a time of 26:08.63.
Jenavieve Vasquez was right on Schaub's trail, placing 78th in a time of 26:09.67. Also right in the mix was
Lauren Wynk who crossed the line in 26:24.12 to place 80th in the race.
Sienna Pinson finished 9th overall in the race for Capital after clocking 27:19.96.
Alex Wilkinson broke in the top-100, placing 99th overall in 27:28.86.
Gracyn Hensley finished 111th in 28:43.49 and
Chloe Zarlino was 125th in 30:23.15.
MEN
Justin Rona was the top Comet runner as he finished 15th overall in the race with a time of 26:37.46. The time for Rona was good enough to place him 14th all-time at Capital.
Mikey Arnone was next for Capital, crossing the line 20th overall in a time of 26:52.08.
Kolin Brake was next for the Comets, placing 29th in 27:17.37.
Zach Glotzbecker placed 38th overall, running a time of 27:29.14.
Braydon Nix finished 50th overall in his first 8K, running a time of 27:53.45.
Dimetrius Floyd was the next Comet to finish, clocking in at 28:05.42 in 59th place.
Ridwan Aliawl placed 98th overall with a time of 29:05.03.
Reef Murray was the next placer with a time of 29:09.92, good for 104th.
Aaron McNutt and
Aiden Mahony finished close together with McNutt running 29:55.02 and Mahony clocking 30:01.00.
Jordan Hull and
Henry Taylor were also close together with Hull clocking 31:19.61 and Taylor running 31:31.40.
