LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Capital University cross country program traveled to the University of Louisville's Fall Classic on Saturday where they competed in some of the largest races in the Midwest this season with both the men's 8K and the women's 6K having more than 400 runners competing.
The Capital men placed 26th overall of 41 teams, while the Comet women were 43rd of 47 teams.
MEN
Justin Rona led the way with a time of 26:17.4 to place 82nd overall out of 417 runners who finished. That time was also an improvement of nearly 20 seconds from his previous time, bumping him up to 11th all-time at Capital.
Zach Glotzbecker was next for Capital with a time of 26:38.3 in 122nd place. The time was a new PR for Glotzbecker and bumped him up to 16th all-time at Capital.
Mikey Arnone was the next Comet with a time of 26:43.8 to place 136th.
Chip Smith was next for Capital, running a time of 26:59.4 to finish 172nd overall.
Kolin Brake was the next to cross the line in 27:04.8, placing 184th.
Ridwan Aliawl clocked a time of 27:59.7 which set him 272nd.
Aaron McNutt rounded out the team scoring places with a time of 28:13.0, finishing 288th overall.
Reef Murray (28:32.0),
Braydon Nix (29:32.8),
Jordan Hull (30:18.7), and
Henry Taylor (31:06.0) rounded out the Capital performances.
WOMEN
Faith Michel led the way, running a time of 24:43.2. That time set her 189th overall out of 416 runners.
Lauren Wynk was the next Comet to cross the line in a time of 25:08.0.
Laney Tarr was right there as well, finishing in 25:08.7. For Wynk she ties herself with the 20th all-time mark in Cap history.
Shelby Janes was the next to finish in a time of 25:13.6, placing 242nd.
Catherine Schaub placed 313th in a time of 26:08.4.
Jenavieve Vasquez was the next Comet in a time of 26:29.9 which was good for 331st.
Alex Wilkinson rounded out the scoring placements with a time of 26:36.3 in 338th.
Gracyn Hansley (28:54.7) and
Chloe Zarlino (30:02.0) rounded out the Comet showing in the event.
