LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Capital University cross country program ventured back to Louisville, Kentucky for the second time this season today as they competed in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships. There, the Comet men finished 11th as a team – the program's best ever finish on the men's side – and the Capital women wound up 29th.
For the men,
Kolin Brake led the way by placing 32nd overall and achieving All-Region honors. Since the beginning of All-Region placements in 2010 according to the USTFCCA website, Brake is the first men's cross country runner for Capital to earn All-Region placement. He is the second Capital runner in program history to achieve the honor, joining two-time recipient Emma McCarron.
MEN
Kolin Brake was the Comet leader with his 32nd place finish and All-Region accolade. His time of 25:53.52 was also good enough to move him up to the 5th fastest 8K time in program history.
Chip Smith was not far behind, placing 42nd in a time of 26:03.67. That time was a seven-second improvement of his personal best, but after some shuffling, he stays 8th all-time in Capital history.
