COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team host Senior Day on Saturday against Mount Union. There, the Comets defended home court and beat the Purple Raiders 4-3.
Capital is now 7-5 overall and 1-2 in the OAC, while Mount is 4-10 and 0-2 in the conference.
Prior to and after the match, the program honored seniors
Anna Fletcher,
Kylee Fliter and
Nicole Flock for their contributions to the team over the years.
DOUBLES
Capital took the doubles point, winning two of three match-ups. At No. 1 doubles, Fletcher and Flock defeated Amelia Francisco and Emily Peel 6-1 and at No. 3 doubles,
Ashlyn Edwards and
Jenny Rollins took their head-to-head match 6-2.
Annika Hansen and
Kylee Fliter dropped No. 2 doubles in a close match, 5-7.
SINGLES
The Comets won three important singles matches, winning No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 singles. Those wins went to
Nicole Flock,
Annika Hansen and
Ashlyn Edwards. Flock won 6-3, 6-1; Hansen won 7-5, 1-6, 6-2; and Edwards won her three sets, 4-6, 6-4 and 6-2.
Anna Fletcher dropped the top spot 4-6, 6-0, 6-4.
Kylee Fliter lost at No. 4 by scores of 4-6 and 6-7.
Jenny Rollins also dropped the No. 5 singles match-up, 6-3, 4-6, 3-6.
