COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team opened up their spring home schedule on Friday afternoon, playing host to Shawnee State. There, Capital won the match 5-2.
Capital is now 5-3 overall on the season. Their next match of the season will be Saturday, March 22nd at Earlham.
Today, Capital emerged with the doubles point as they claimed all three victories.
Anna Fletcher and
Nicole Flock took No. 1 doubles 6-3 before both the No. 2 pairing of
Annika Hansen and
Kylee Fliter and the No. 3 duo of
Ashlyn Edwards and
Jenny Rollins won their respective contests 6-1 each.
With the doubles point in hand, Capital went onto with four of the six singles matches, winning No. 1, No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6.
At No. 1 action,
Anna Fletcher won 6-1, 7-5, while her teammate
Nicole Flock won second singles with identical sets of 6-2, 6-2. In the fifth singles match-up,
Jenny Rollins won in shutout fashion, 6-0, 6-0.
Ashlyn Edwards completed the Cap scoring win No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-3.
Annika Hansen dropped her bout at No. 3 singles 4-6, 1-6 and
Kylee Fliter fell at No. 4 singles 4-6, 5-7.

The Comets will be back in action on Saturday, March 22nd at Earlham College. The start time for that match is slated for 12:00 p.m.
