GREENWOOD, Ind. – On Tuesday afternoon, eight Capital University soccer players were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District teams for their combined work in the classroom and on the field this season.
Representing the women's side are seniors
Liv Alford, Lizzie Elliot, and
Mya Swearengin. Joining them were sophomores
Taylor Duff,
Kendra Kovacs, and
Bella Leonetti. Alford and Elliot have now earned the award twice, while Swearengin, Duff, Kovacs and Leonetti have earned their first.
On the men's team, junior
Jack Thomas and sophomore Nico Vaught each earned the honor for the first time in their career.
To be eligible for this award, student-athletes must be at least of sophomore academic and athletic standing, must have at least a 3.50 GPA cumulative GPA (not-rounded), and meet other high athletic standards.
Of those featured on this list, Duff, Leonetti, and Swearengin have been advanced to the national ballot to be voted on for Academic All-America honors. A first, second and third team Academic All-America will be released on December 17th once national voting has been compiled.
The women finished their season with a record of 9-6-3 and a trip to the OAC tournament semifinals, while the men ended 4-10-3 with a OAC tournament quarterfinal appearance.
