COLUMBUS, Ohio -Â The Capital men's soccer team earned a 3-0 nonconference victory over Bluffton on Sunday at Bernlohr Stadium, improving to 2-1-0 on the season. The Beavers fell to 0-2-0.
Capital struck early, with junior
Christian Monzalvo scoring his second goal of the season in the eighth minute.
Filip Wilhelmsen set up Monzalvo, who finished the opportunity to give the Comets a 1-0 lead.
Capital doubled its advantage before halftime when
Wassim Metatla scored his second goal of the season. Metatla beat a defender before sending a right-footed shot into the net to make it 2-0.
The Comets continued to apply offensive pressure after halftime.
Harper Gillen added to the lead with his first goal of the season, giving Capital a 3-0 advantage.
Capital controlled the attack throughout the match, finishing with 20 shots, including nine on goal. Goalkeeper
Noah Thomas started and made three saves in the first half before
Zach Stevens took over in the second half and recorded two saves.
