WESTERVILLE, Ohio – On Monday afternoon, Capital University senior women's basketball player Samaree Perkins was named as the OAC's Athlete of the Week for the second straight week to open the year. 

This marks Perkins' sixth career conference player of the week award and her second in as many weeks to begin the 2025-26 season. So far this academic year, Capital athletics has seen 12 student-athletes receive weekly recognition from the conference office. 

Perkins' award comes on the heels of a commanding 30-point, 14-rebound double-double in the team's 67-62 win over Franklin. Perkins showed efficiency from all areas on the floor scoring 6-for-9 from the field, 2-of-3 from beyond the arc and 16-of-18 from the free throw line. In addition to her sharp shooting and domination on the glass, she added one assist, two blocks and a steal. 

So far this season through two games, Perkins is averaging 24.5 points per game and 16.5 rebounds per contest. 

The Capital Women's Basketball team will be back in action for a 5 p.m. tipoff on Wednesday, November 19th as they play host to Case Western Reserve.
