Bowling Competes First OBC Tournament of Season

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University bowling team competed at the first Ohio Bowling Conference tournament of the season on Saturday across town at the Columbus Bowling Palace. 
At the tournament, the women's team finished 5th of 14 teams and the men placed 12th of 20 teams. Both finishes marked the highest finishes for the men and the women at OBC events thus far in the program's second season. 

MEN
The Comets scored 4,742 with an average of 175 per game in the varsity division. The JV squad placed sixth in their division with a score of 4,807.

Baylee Becker was the top finisher for Capital with a 29th place finish and a score of 559. He averaged 186 per game. 

Caleb Kornosky was next in 35th place with a 544 score which averages 181 per game. 

Zac Abbott placed 43rd with a total score of 532 and an average of 177 per game. 

Jonathan Waggoner was next in 49th place with a score of 516, which averaged 172 per game. 

Christopher Vance scored 371 in two games, while Jacob Snyder scored 123 in one game. 

Robert Stegmen was the leader on the JV squad, scoring 661 with an average of 220 per game. His third place finish overall was good for All-Tournament team honors as well.  

WOMEN
The women's team finished with a score of 4,416 to place fifth overall of 14 teams. The JV squad placed sixth of nine teams with a score of 3,362. 

Samantha Jay was the leader for Capital, placing eighth overall with a score of 560 which averaged 186 per game. 

Jolene Powers finished 12th with a score of 545 on the day, averaging 181 per game. 

Olivia Hicks was 29th with a score of 471, averaging 157 per game. 

Cassidi Johnson finished 49th with a two-game score of 349 (174 average). 

Sadie Bassitt was 53rd overall with a score of 323, averaging 161 per game.

Kaitlyn Sturgill finished 60th with 276 over two games, averaging 138. 

On the JV side,  Zoe Blickensderfer was the top finisher with a score of 423, averaging 141 per game. 

UP NEXT
Capital will next be in action on October 25th and 26th with two competitions in Smyrna, Tennessee. First, they'll play in the Greater Nashville Open on Saturday and the MSC Brandon Burns Memorial on Sunday.
