SMYRNA, Tenn. – The Capital University bowling teams concluded their two-day trip to the Greater Nashville area on Sunday by competing at the MSC Brandon Burns Memorial tournament. At that tournament, the Capital men's varsity team placed 14th of 17 teams, while the women's varsity squad finished 14th of 18 teams.
The men's varsity team tallied a score of 5,243, while the women finished with a score of 4,278.
In JV play, the men's team placed 11th with a score of 4,645, and the women were sixth with a total score of 3,867.
MEN
Jacob Snyder was the top bowler on the day, throwing a four-game series of 799. His high game registered 217.
Baylee Becker was next for Capital with a series total of 775 and high game of 236.
Zac Abbott was also above 700 with a total score of 746 which included a top score of 215.
Caleb Kornosky bowled three games and totaled 580 with his high game registering 213.
Jonathan Waggoner also bowled three games, tallying a score of 534 with a high of 211.
Robert Stegman bowled two games, scoring games of 155 and 163.
For the JV men,
Amir Alston threw a four-game series of 720 to lead the way.
Evan Freudemann had the top game of the day for the JV squad, throwing a 205.
WOMEN
Jolene Powers led the Comets on the day with a four-game series score of 699. Her high game marked 207.
Olivia Hicks was next for Cap with a total score of 591. Her high game registered a 168.
Just two pins back was
Kaitlyn Sturgell who scored 589 over four games. Her high score was a 169.
Samantha Jay bowled three games and scored a 488 with her high – and the team's high – marking a 223.
Alyssa Gehring threw two games with scores of 144 and 129, while
Cassidi Johnson also bowled two games, scoring 128 and 111.
Sadie Bassitt bowled one game with a 117.
For the JV women, Capital was led by
Sarah Cordes who bowled a four-game series of 652. Cordes also had the high game of the day with a 181.
