ADDISON, Ill. – The Capital University bowling team sent three men's bowlers and the women's varsity team to the ISC/ITC Sectionals in Addison, Illinois this weekend. The tournament was one that was qualified for based on in-season performances.
Representing the men's program at the ISC event on Friday night were
Zac Abbott,
Caleb Kornosky and
Baylee Becker. Competing for the women on Friday night at the ISC portion of the weekend were
Samantha Jay,
Olivia Hicks,
Sadie Bassitt,
Cassidi Johnson, and
Kaitlyn Sturgell.
For the men, Abbott led the way, placing 57th out of 285 bowlers, scoring a six-game series of 1,188. His high game registered 258. Becker was next, placing 123rd with a score of 1,119. His high game mark was 221. Kornosky rounded it out with a score of 1,040, with a high game of 222.
On the women's side, Jay led the way, placing 81st out of 244 bowlers. She scored 1,082 over her six games with a high of 215. Hicks was next, scoring 981 with a high of 175. Bassitt was next for Capital, scoring 872 with a high of 195. Johnson scored 853 with a high of 160. Sturgell scored a total of 853 as well, with a top game of 188.
Over the weekend, the varsity women's team competed in the ITC Sectional as a team, bowling 64 baker games across two days. As a team, Capital placed 23rd out of 25 teams, finishing ahead of Ohio State and Wisconsin-Madison. As a team, the squad scored a combined total of 10,053. The team topped out a high game of 223, bowled in game #41 of the event.

UP NEXT
Capital will next compete at the Club National Championships in Rockford, Illinois on March 28th and 29th. Both teams qualified for the event as top-20 teams in the nation for non-scholarship providing programs.
