HEAD COACH LANCE GORDON ON THE WOMEN'S OUTING
"I was pleased with the performance of the women's team this weekend. Of the 25 individual games bowled, 14 were started by true first year players, and they rose to the occasion. It was nice to see junior transfer player
Kaitlyn Sturgell work out of her slump and have a big day.
Olivia Hicks had another tremendous tournament, and she is becoming a true superstar for our young team. This was a really good tournament for us to challenge ourselves before we begin conference play."
As a team, Capital totaled up a score of 4,444 pins through the five-game series before knocking down an additional 2,845 in baker games. The team combined to score 7,289 over the weekend.
Individually,
Baylee Becker had the highest score for Capital, knocking down 964 pins which included a high of 213.
Jacob Snyder was next for Capital with a score of 932, including a high of 217.
Jonathan Waggoner threw a 724 across four games, with a high of 213.
Zachary Abbott tossed a score of 701 over four games which included a high of 185.
Caleb Kornosky had a 648 after four games with a high of 179.
Amir Alston tossed two games totalling 324 with a high of 164.
Christopher Vance had one game, scoring a 151.
HEAD COACH LANCE GORDON ON THE MEN'S OUTING
" I felt that physically our team was one of the more talented teams in the field. However, lack of experience and getting caught up in a "big moment" held us back. Some of the simplest tacks became difficult as nerves set in, and we kind of bottomed out with an 834 in game 2 on Saturday. Fortunately we rebounded after that game and were way over that score the rest of the day. Our men's team is extremely young, and it was nice for the 6 first year players we brought to get some veteran leadership from sophomore
Baylee Becker, who had a really good day on some tough lanes."
