SMYRNA, Tenn. – The Capital University bowling team finished up play for the first of two competitions in Tennessee this weekend at the MSC Greater Nashville Open. There, the men's varsity team finished 10th of 17 teams with a score of 4,480, while the varsity women placed ninth of 18 teams with a score of 3,972.
In JV play, Capital's men's team was 11th and the women were sixth.
MEN
Zac Abbott led the men's team with a 18th overall finish after bowling a score of 850 across a four-game series. His high score registered a 248.
Baylee Becker was next for Capital, bowling a 763 over four games with a 222 marking his high game.
Jonathan Waggoner was next for the Comets recording a four-game score of 755 with a 215 as the high game.
Caleb Kornosky also eclipsed 700 with a total of 703, led by a high score of 215.
Jacob Snyder bowled three games, scoring a 542 with a high game 208.
Robert Stegman bowled a single game of 140.
For the JV men,
Evan Freudemann had the high four-game series score of 664, while
Amir Alston shot the high game of 203.
WOMEN
Jolene Powers was the leading Comet bowler for the women, finishing 20th overall with a four-game series of 746. Her high game registered a 237.
Olivia Hicks was next for Capital throwing a series score of 672, led by a high game of 191.
Kaitlyn Sturgell threw a series of 503 in three games with 194 marking her high.
Samantha Jay also tossed three games, totaling 471 with a high-game of 162.
Sadie Bassitt bowled two games, recording a total of 375 with a 205 as her high.
Alyssa Gehring also bowled two games of 298 with a 160 as her high.
Cassidi Johnson also bowled twice with a 139 as her high score and her combined total of 274.
For the JV women,
Emma McCaul led the team with a three-game total of 462 and a high score of 183.
