KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Capital University women's tennis team was represented by
Anna Fletcher and
Nicole Flock at the ITA Fall Regionals hosted by Kalamazoo over the weekend, competing both individually as well as a doubles pair. The duo's trip to Michigan would be highlighted by Fletcher fighting her way all the way to the consolation quarterfinals.
DOUBLES
The pair started off their doubles run strong in the round of 64, quickly gaining a 2-0 lead, but would unfortunately end up on the losing side 7-8 result after a 4-7 tiebreak. The duo's doubles run came to a close after a 5-7 loss in their next match in the consolation round of 16.
FLETCHER
Fletcher's singles stint got off to a rough start in the round of 128 as she suffered a 4-6, 1-6 loss. However, she got into a groove in the consolation bracket, starting in the round of 32 where she took care of her opponent 7-5, 6-4 to move one. In the consolation round of 16, Fletcher continued to play well, earning herself a place in the consolation quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-3 win. Unfortunately, Fletcher's run would come to an end there with a 1-6, 0-6 loss.
FLOCK
Flock put up a good fight in the round of 128, but would come up short after losing a 2-7 tiebreak in the second short to finish a 4-6, 6-7 main bracket match. Unfortunately she did not last long in the consolation bracket, losing 0-6, 0-6 in the round of 32.
