HARROD, Ohio – The Capital University golf teams spent their Labor Day taking part in day two of the ONU Fall Classic on Monday. Despite not being able to place due to only playing the second half of the tournament, the Comets still put in a decent performance as they start to get into the swing of the fall season.

WOMEN | 394
It was the season-opener for the Purple and White women as they put forth a team score of 394. Emma Konopa once again led the way with a 83 in the first round of her sophomore season. Abby Crisler shot 99, followed by two new faces to the program as Sydney Dillon and Reese King scored 104 and 108 respectively in their Capital Golf debuts to finish off the team total. Camryn Mauter made 113.

MEN | 309
Coach Andy Garcia shuffled the lineup a bit after CU's men's side took part in the 36-hole Gatorade Intercollegiate over the past two days. Nolan Frey, Keegan Billingham, and Cole Crandall remained for another round, this time joined by Ricky Walsh and Adam Murphy. Frey was the frontrunner again, only without much separation between the squad's scores. He shot a 76, followed closely by Walsh at 77, and Billingham and Murphy at 78 to tally a team score of 309. Cole Crandall concluded his day with an 83.

COMMENTS FROM COACH GARCIA
"Nolan played solid again today. Love seeing his progression over the summer and first few weeks. Glad we saw some different lineup the past few days, just need to clean stuff up around the green and we will be ready for JCU in a few weeks."

"Emma was awesome today. Always worry about that jump from year one to year two and she's made it. Loved seeing some of our new additions compete, just have to get used to the college game and that'll come soon."

UP NEXT FOR THE WOMEN

UP NEXT FOR THE MEN
