WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University men's tennis team concluded the 2024 season with a 5-0 loss to Otterbein University in the OAC Quarterfinals. The Comets end the year with a 2-17 record.
Playing at Otterbein for the second time this season, Capital fell behind 3-0 in double action and then surrendered a fourth point with a default at No. 6 singles. Needing just one point to clinch, Otterbein won No. 5 singles to halt the match.
In doubles play,
Spencer Surles and
Jackson Havel fell 8-2 and
Sam Williams and
Nicholas Wines lost 8-1.
In singles play, Williams was defeated 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 action. Elsewhere, Otterbein was comfortably winning the sets when play was called, however,
Spencer Surles was rallying back as he led 3-0 in set two of his match at No. 1 singles.
