MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Capital University men's tennis team traveled the Great Smoky Mountains in Maryville, Tennessee this afternoon for a match-up with Maryville College. There, Cap fell 8-1 at the end of the match.
In doubles play, Cap only fielded two pairings. At #1,
Spencer Surles and
Jackson Havel fell 8-1 and at #2,
Nicholas Wines and
Alex Rowley lost 8-2.
In singles action, the lone win of the day for Cap came from Surles at #1 singles. Surles fell behind after losing his first set 6-4, but rebounded with a 6-4 winner and 10-6 tiebreaker.
At #2 singles, Havel fell in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. At the third spot, Wines lost 6-2, 6-3 and at #4, Rowley fell 6-3, 6-4.
The Comets will now kickoff OAC play this coming Saturday, March 23rd with a road match at Marietta College.
