MARIETTA, Ohio – The Capital University men's tennis team won their first match of the season with an 8-1 decision down at Marietta College on Saturday afternoon.
The Comets got big wins all around as they cruised to victory over the Pioneers (0-2).
The lone loss on the day for Cap came at #1 doubles as
Jackson Havel and
Jesse Stevens fell 8-5.
At #2 doubles,
Spencer Surles and
Nicholas Wines won comfortably 8-1, while
Alex Rowley and
Sam Williams picked up a forfeit win at #3 doubles.
In singles action, Capital took all six matches, with #6 coming via forfeit for Williams.
In order of first to fifth singles, Surles won 6-2, 6-2; Stevens won 6-4, 6-4; Havel triumphed 6-3, 6-1; Wins won 6-3, 6-2; and Rowley won 6-2, 6-0.
Capital will now hit the road for Otterbein on Friday, March 29th as they Battle for the Oar with the Cardinals.
