BEREA / ASHLAND, Ohio – The Capital University men's tennis team went out on the road and played on the wrong end of two 9-0 score lines at Baldwin Wallace University and then against Ohio Northern University. The match with ONU was played at Brookside Park in Ashland, Ohio as part of an agreement between the two programs.
CAP at BW
The Comets doubles pairing of
Spencer Surles and
Jackson Havel fell 8-2, while
Alex Rowley and
Nicholas Wines lost 8-1.
In singles action,
Spencer Surles put up a strong fight at #1, losing 6-2, 6-3. Havel los 6-2, 6-1; Wines fell 6-3, 6-1; Rowley dropped his sets in order 6-1, 6-1; and
Sam Williams lost #5 6-1, 6-1 as well.
The final two points went to BW via Capital forfeits.
CAP vs. ONU
The Comets faced a gauntlet of a Polar Bear team who claimed the OAC Regular Season title with the win over Capital.
In doubles play, both pairings of Comets doubles (Surles/Havel and Wines/Rowley) fell 8-3.
In the singles action, Surles lost 6-0, 6-0 at the top spot and the rest of the action remained heavily in favor of ONU – Havel lost 6-0, 6-1; Wines fell 6-3, 6-0; Rowley lost 6-0, 6-1; and Williams lost 6-1, 6-1.
Again, Northern picked up two forfeit points as well.

Capital managed to secure the No. 6 seed to next week's OAC Tournament where they will travel to No. 3 seeded Otterbein on Tuesday, April 30th at a time yet to be announced.
