COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team (4-8, 2-3 OAC) beat Baldwin Wallace (2-11, 0-4 OAC) by a score of 6-3 on Saturday afternoon at Scarborough Tennis Club. The Comets would come away with 1-of-3 wins in doubles and 5-of-6 wins in singles to take the day.
The Purple and White would get off to a slow start in doubles, only taking one of the three points available with
Anna Fletcher and
Nicole Flock winning 8-5.
Amy Wright-Lovell and
Jenny Rollins would fall 8-3 while
Annika Hansen and
Rachel Smith suffered an 8-2 loss.
Despite falling behind in doubles, CU would surge in singles, taking five of the six available points to take the day. Fletcher won first singles via a 6-2 first set followed by a retirement from her opponent. Flock was flawless in second singles at 6-0, 6-0. Wright-Lovell took fourth singles 6-0, 6-3. Smith secured fifth singles 6-4, 6-2. And Rollins rolled to a 6-1, 6-4 win in sixth singles. Hansen was the only Comet to come up short, dropping third singles 3-6, 2-6.
