INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Capital University women's lacrosse concluded the 2023 season with another stellar year in their program's history, finishing as the OAC Tournament Champions and qualifying for the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season.
As a team, Capital concluded the season with an overall record of 11-5 and a 6-1 OAC mark.
The success of the team relied heavily on the offensive efforts of the team which scored 275 goals to go with 140 assists this season.
Leading the team in both goals and points was sophomore All-American
Grace Osborn. In total, Osborn scored 111 goals and secured 139 points, after adding in 28 assists. Her averages of 6.94 goals per game and 8.69 points per game finished as the leading numbers in both categories across all of NCAA Division III.
Osborn was the 2022 goals per game leader in D-III as well after scoring 6.00 goals per contest as a freshman.
In addition to Osborn's offensive stat champion awards, the Comets led all of Division III in draw controls per game, claiming their second straight team stat champion award after leading the nation in scoring offense in 2022.
In 2023, the draw unit consisting of Osborn,
Julia Foresi,
Andi Henry,
Brenna Todd and
Ava Vendetti among others at times totaled 316 draw controls on the year for an NCAA leading average of 19.75 per game.
So far in the history of Capital Women's Lacrosse history, two individuals have been named statistical champions, while the team has earned two stat champion titles as well. In addition to Osborn, Regan Hanood won the assists per game award in 2018. Additionally,
Brooke Delara led the NCAA in total points in 2022, but was edged out in the points per game category.
