COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team hosted Muskingum University on Friday evening at Bernlohr Stadium to wrap up their 2026 season. Thankfully for the Comets, Capital held off Muskingum to cap the season with a 15-9 victory over the Muskies. The game, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday, April 22nd, saw the visitors garner an early 3-0 lead, but the Purple and White finished the game on a 15-6 run to remove all doubt of the final score.
With the result, Capital ends their season 5-9 overall and 1-5 in the OAC, while Muskingum concludes their year with a 6-11 record and an 0-6 conference mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Comets fell behind 3-0 early, but responded on a four-goal run to end the first quarter leading 4-3. Those four goals came via the sticks of
Grace Wolfe,
Leah Leno,
Sienna Pinson, and
Mia Cruz.
Capital kept their foot on the gas to start the second quarter as Leno scored three times, joined by Pinson to boost the Comets out to an 8-3 lead by halftime.
To start the third quarter, the Muskies came out hot, trimming the lead to 8-7 before a woman-up goal by
Mia Cruz halted the momentum. That goal was then followed by tallies from Wolfe and Cruz again to make it 11-7. Ultimately, the game ended on a three-goal run by Capital with strikes coming from Leno twice and
Heather Stoner.
THE NUMBERS
In the end,
Leah Leno concluded her career with a strong output on six goals, two assists, and one ground ball.
Freshman
Sienna Pinson ended her first year with a career-high seven points on two goals and five assists.
Mia Cruz scored three goals to go with one ground ball.
Grace Wolfe finished her final career game with two goals and one assist to go with two draw controls and two caused turnovers.
Heather Stoner scored one final goal in her career matching that with three ground balls and a caused turnover. Twin sister
Holly Stoner ended her career with three assists, four ground balls and one caused turnover.
Kadyn Hyer ended the season with a one-goal, one-assist performance while she also chipped in three ground balls, six draw controls and one caused turnover.
Eleanor Walsh also had four ground balls.
Brooke Burchfield ended her first season in Purple and White with a monstrous 18-save, 7-ground ball performance for Capital.
