Box Score WOOSTER, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team traveled north on Saturday to square off with Baldwin Wallace in the regular season finale. In the end it was nearly all Comets as CU swept doubles and took 5-of-6 in singles, winning by a final margin of 8-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Comets got out to a hot start with a sweep in the doubles matches. First,
Amy Wright-Lovell and
Jenny Rollins rolled an 8-0 victory in third doubles.
Anna Fletcher and
Nicole Flock followed suit with an 8-5 win in the first singles match that finished shortly thereafter. Finally,
Rachel Smith and
Kylee Fliter took the third doubles match 8-6 to give Cap a 3-0 lead going into singles.
Capital kept it rolling, taking the first five matches to finish.
Nicole Flock finished first, winning 6-4, 6-1 in second singles.
Ashlyn Edwards finished next with a 6-0, 6-1 win in sixth singles. Then it was
Rachel Smith with a positive 6-3, 6-3 in third singles.
Jenny Rollins secured 7-5, 6-1 results in her win in fifth singles, followed by
Kylee Fliter finishing 6-2, 6-3 in fourth singles. The final match to finish was the only blemish on Capital's otherwise undefeated record on the day as the first singles match came down to a tiebreak. Unfortunately,
Anna Fletcher ended up on the losing end, 7-5, 6-0 (10-6).
UP NEXT
The Comets will ready up for the OAC Tournament next. The tournament will take place April 25-29. Sites and seeding are still to be determined.
